Health & Safety (warehouses)

Health & Safety at Work legislation is placing increasing responsibilities on warehouse operators to protect their staff from injury whilst at work.  (see http://www.hse.gov.uk/warehousing/index.htm) Warehouse Racking and Shelving  is classed as ‘work equipment’ and must be fit for purpose and safe to use by warehouse staff.  In order to comply with current legislation, warehouse operators must perform weekly checks and also annual safety inspections by trained auditors so that any damage to the racking can be reported and rectified.

Universal works with many Companies (some well known PCL groups) to provide safety inspections and to undertake repairs and routine maintenance.   This usually involves the supply of replacement racking components and/or labour services at very competitive rates.  Typically 25 – 30% lower than previous suppliers.

Where we supply components, these will come with the appropriate guarantees of safety and compatibility.
Where we undertake the actual repairs/maintenance, our working practices comply with current H&S legislation and we provide all documentation such as Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Mechanical Handling Equipment certificates etc.

Where Customers require a full Racking Safety Inspection we can arrange for our SEMA registered Auditor to visit your warehouse, for which a fee may be charged - depending on size and location.
